How Much Does GoHighLevel Actually Cost Per Month? (2026 Real Numbers)

Short answer: GoHighLevel's plans are $97, $297, and $497 per month. But almost nobody pays only that. Texting, phone numbers, email sending, and AI features are all billed separately on top of your subscription. A realistic all-in cost for one person running one business is closer to $105–$130 per month. For a small business actively texting leads, budget $130–$250.

The three subscription plans

PlanMonthlyAnnual (approx.)Best for
Starter$97~$81/moOne business, or a solo operator
Unlimited$297~$248/moAgencies with multiple clients
Agency Pro (SaaS Pro)$497~$414/moReselling the platform as your own software

Annual billing knocks roughly 17% off each tier — effectively two months free.

Here's the thing most comparison articles get wrong: all three plans include the same features. You don't unlock the funnel builder or the automation engine by paying more. What you're buying at higher tiers is capacity and permissions — how many sub-accounts you can run, whether you get API access, whether you can white-label and rebill.

Contacts and users are unlimited on every plan, including Starter. There's no per-seat or per-contact charge anywhere. That's genuinely unusual in this category, and it's worth knowing before you assume you need to upgrade.

One correction worth making, because a lot of older articles still say otherwise: Starter now includes three sub-accounts, not one. If you were told you'd need the $297 plan just to run two businesses, that's out of date.

The part that surprises people: nothing communication-related is included

Your subscription buys you the software. It does not buy you the ability to send anything.

Every text, every call minute, every email, and every AI interaction is billed separately through what GoHighLevel calls your Agency Wallet — an account balance that auto-recharges when it runs low. Here's the current rate card.

Phone numbers

A local US or Canadian number runs about $1.15 per month. Toll-free is around $2.15 per month. You need at least one to text or call at all.

SMS

The base rate is roughly $0.0079 per segment, charged on both outbound and inbound messages.

Two things make this cost more than it first appears:

A segment is not a message. One segment is 160 characters of plain text. A 200-character message is two segments. And the moment you add a single emoji, the segment size drops to 70 characters — so a chatty message with one 🎉 in it can quietly become four or five segments.

Carrier fees stack on top. US mobile carriers add their own per-message surcharge, roughly $0.003 to $0.005 per outbound text, passed straight through to you. In practice, your true cost per segment lands somewhere around $0.011 to $0.018 rather than the advertised $0.0079.

Then there's A2P 10DLC registration, which US businesses are required to complete before sending marketing texts. That's a one-time brand fee of about $24.50, plus a recurring monthly campaign fee somewhere between $1.50 and $11 depending on your use case. The monthly fee continues for as long as you're registered to send.

Email

Email sending runs about $0.675 per 1,000 emails. That's cheap enough to ignore at small volumes — a 500-person list getting a weekly newsletter costs well under a dollar a month. It only becomes noticeable if you're mailing tens of thousands of contacts on multi-step sequences.

AI features

The AI Employee add-on is $97/month per sub-account for unlimited use, or you can pay per interaction if your volume is low — roughly $0.02 per Conversation AI message and about $0.08 per automated review response. Voice AI is billed by the minute and stacks phone charges on top.

This is the single easiest way to double your bill by accident. The AI features demo beautifully. They are not included.

What you'll actually pay: three honest scenarios

Scenario 1 — Solo creator, email only, no texting

  • Starter plan: $97
  • No phone number, no SMS, no A2P registration: $0
  • Email to a 1,000-person list, four sends a month: under $3

Realistic total: about $100/month.

If you never turn on texting, GoHighLevel's pricing is close to its sticker price. This is the scenario most solo course creators and coaches are actually in — and it's worth knowing that the scary usage fees mostly don't apply to you.

Scenario 2 — Small business texting leads

  • Starter plan: $97
  • One local number: $1.15
  • A2P monthly campaign fee: ~$10
  • 1,500 SMS segments in and out at ~$0.013 all-in: ~$20
  • Email: ~$3

Realistic total: about $130/month.

Scenario 3 — Agency with a few clients and AI turned on

  • Unlimited plan: $297
  • Three local numbers: ~$3.50
  • A2P fees across sub-accounts: ~$30
  • 8,000 SMS segments: ~$105
  • Email: ~$15
  • AI Employee on one sub-account: $97

Realistic total: about $545/month.

Notice that in scenario 3, usage costs nearly match the subscription. That's the number agencies need to build into client pricing, and it's the one that catches people out in month two.

So is it worth it?

For an agency, the math is usually easy — GoHighLevel replaces a CRM, a funnel builder, an email platform, a scheduler, and a reputation tool, and it lets you rebill clients for usage. Even at $545/month, that's a bargain against the separate stack.

For a solo business owner, it's genuinely a closer call. If you're one person selling a course or a coaching package, you're paying about $100/month for a platform built around features you may never switch on — pipelines, SMS automation, multi-client architecture. There are simpler and much cheaper tools that cover funnels, email, and course hosting for a fraction of that, and if the words "sub-account" and "workflow trigger" make your shoulders tense, that's useful information about fit.

The honest test isn't budget. It's this: do you need SMS and a real sales pipeline, or do you just need funnels, email, and somewhere to host a product? If it's the second one, you're overbuying.

Frequently asked questions

Does GoHighLevel have a free plan?

No. There's a free trial — currently 14 days through the standard signup, though extended 30-day trials are commonly offered through affiliate links — but no permanently free tier. If free is a hard requirement, you're looking at the wrong platform.

Is GoHighLevel's $97 plan enough for one business?

Yes, for most people. It includes the complete feature set, unlimited contacts, unlimited users, and three sub-accounts. The upgrade to $297 is about running unlimited client accounts and getting API access — not about unlocking features.

Why is my GoHighLevel bill higher than $97?

Almost always phone and SMS. Check your Agency Wallet transactions: phone number rental, per-segment SMS charges, carrier surcharges, and the monthly A2P campaign fee are the usual culprits. AI Employee at $97/month is the other big one.

Can I use GoHighLevel without connecting Twilio?

Yes. LC Phone (LeadConnector) is GoHighLevel's built-in phone layer — it sits on top of Twilio but you don't manage a separate Twilio account. Rates are similar either way.

Does GoHighLevel charge transaction fees on sales?

No transaction fee from GoHighLevel itself. You'll still pay standard Stripe or PayPal processing fees on anything you sell.
